An Artistic NY update
posted in Trips Abroad |So after 5 visits to NY, I finally got a chance to visit the Museum of Modern Art. MoMA. Do they call it Moe-ma? I’m still not sure but thrown amongst the Picassos and the Warhols and the Mondrians, I ran across this guy:
“Grapes” by Juan Gris
I don’t know why but I really really like this painting. Even to the point of looking for a print online and getting it framed and sticking in my office. Gris was a student of Picasso, liked painting recognizable objects within the cubist style, and died way too young at the age of 40 in 1927. Around 2005, a Gris painting sold for $69 million dollars. That’s a lot of grapes.
