Chicago cold Dallas warm

posted in Trips Abroad |

Wow, it’s been 15 years since I was last in Chicago. And it really hasn’t changed. Still cold. Actually, a few things have changed including Soldier Field.

They put this flying saucer thing in the middle of it and kept some of the original architecture. Actually, it’s kind of cool looking thing. I was working in McCormick Place, this HUGE convention center that’s close to the football field (and shares parking) and for about an hour we had this weird dichotomy going with people decked out in Da Bears finest all bundled up and ready to cheer next to suited up power sellers perusing the latest packaging gizmos at the 2nd largest trade show in the nation. (The football fans cut thru the convention center to get to the football game.  I thought they were lost.)

I was only in Chicago for a couple days but had some FANTASTIC food at the House of Blues and some really good pizza at Giordano’s on Rush St.   It was about an hour wait for the pizza but worth it.  Check it out, you can even order online and have it “mailed”. I am so gonna try that for the next Cowboy game.

I didn’t get a chance to go to Millinium Park or Grant Park and no I didn’t see Obama or Oprah but I did see Derek Harper at the airport. At least I think it was him. In any case, I like Chicago. Except when it’s freakin’ 38 degrees and I forgot to pack a winter coat.
