Monday DVD Review-The Incredible Hulk

why is this sign so small?

All right, it’s time for that summer blockbuster that really wasn’t, “The Incredibe Hulk!”

I really loved the tv version of the “The Incredible Hulk” starring the late great Bill Bixby.  That whole origin story that featured him trying to change a flat tire in the pouring rain and cutting his hand and hulking out is simply awesome as is the sad piano song at the end. That song was one of the first songs I played at a piano recital when I was taking lessons as a wee lad.  My point is, this movie version is much truer to the TV show and more importantly, the comic book than that Ang Lee monstrosisity that came out in 2003.

SHORT PLOT SYNOPSIS:We see the back story during the opening credits and then find out that Bruce Banner is in South America communicating with a scientist via encrypted email trying to find out a way to cure his gamma radiation poisoning. The Army discovers him and chases ensue and Banner hulks out and etc etc. Oh, and a super soldier gets similar dose of gamma radiation and kinda becomes an evil version of the Hulk.

OVERALL:You like comic book movies? Feel ripped off by the first Hulk? Then you will like this movie.  Not too scary for kids.  Really good special effects.

RENT IT?:Yeah definitely a rental.

UPDATE: Ironman Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., makes an appearance at the end of the movie and mentions a team being put together. This team will be showcased in a movie called The Avengers scheduled for releas on July 15, 2011 by Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios. Iron Man director Jon Favreau is the executive producer, while Robert Downey, Jr. and Don Cheadle will play Iron Man and War Machine respectively. Marvel confirmed the roster will also include Captain America, Thor and the Hulk, as they band together against a larger force.[29] The film’s writer, Zak Penn (co-writer of The Incredible Hulk), emphasized Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch’s Ultimates as the inspiration for the story.[30]

Thanks for this! We’ve been going back and forth on renting this, but I saw your review and told DH we should give it a shot. Seems we are always in perfect agreement w/ your reviews.

So thanks again and look forward to more film guidance…you’re better than all those “2-Thumbs Up” guys put together!

P.S. DH wants me to say that we have a really nice theater with a giant screen and blue ray if you wanna come over to hang out…I told him he sounds like a stalker! LOL

Watched this last night and dug it. Now I have someone else to mimic with crazed, angered faces.
