Quote and Food Advice
This week’s quote comes from that great sage, Tommy Smothers
“Red meat is not bad for you. Now blue-green meat, that’s bad for you!”
Okay, today I am going to share a little secret of mine that I look forward to each week, but you can’t tell anybody. Besides, they won’t believe you anyway.
Boston Market has one of the best tortilla soups in the country.
SHhhhhhh. I don’t want the word to get out cause they might raise the price. Seriously, it’s really good. And I have a tried a lot of tortilla soups in my life. They are the best tasting quickserve (fastfood) tortilla soup in my opinion without a doubt.
You see that small soup bowl over there with the spoon on it? That’s the tortilla soup. It’s got a “tomatoey” broth, onions, celery, spices, cilantro, several chunks of rotisserie chicken and here’s the best part- you add the chips and cheese when you want!
Think about it. If they added the chips and cheese it would be all melted and soggy by the time you ate it-especially if your order was to go. But since you add it yourself, you control the crunch factor. Brilliant!
But that’s not all, in addition to the soup Boston Market has a choice of salad to go with it. I used to be the Caesar guy but I tried the chopped salad and it won me over..here is a partial ingredient list:
LETTUCE, TOMATOES, DRESSING (SOYBEAN OIL, WATER, WHITE WINE VINEGAR, SALT, DISTILLED VINEGAR, GARLIC, SHALLOTS, DIJON MUSTARD, HONEY, BROCCOLI, YELLOW SQUASH, CARROTS, ZUCCHINI SQUASH, RED ONION, BLUE CHEESE, SUNFLOWER SEEDS, SWEETENED DRIED CRANBERRIES.
They had me at blue cheese and won me completely over with the sweetened dried cranberries.
But, you might say, “That sounds kind of expensive!” Ah-ha, the soup and the salad AND the drink AND a piece of sweet cornbread is only $5.99.
Not bad right? Well get this…you can print off a coupon and get 1.25 off!
So your 5.99 turns into about $5.14 based on the tax rate in your area.
Now that… is a deal. And yes, I get it once a week.
Remember, this is our secret!
