happy halloween!

I haven’t really dressed up in a couple of years but here is a picture of what is arguably my best costume:

dream

I have a dream. Actually, I have lots of dreams and most of them involve me walking on the red carpet and doing Entertainment Tonight interviews about my latest CD/Movie/TV show. But I have simpler dreams. And one of those dreams involved taking a trip. A driving trip to the north. I google- mapped it earlier this summer.

Can you tell where it goes? That’s right Devil’s Tower in Wyoming, baby! Why Devil’s Tower? Let’s just say that the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind had a huge impact on my young life when it first came out.  I was alien crazy and even started making my own Project Blue Book.  I read everything I could put my hands on about alien encounters and I had the Close Encounters book, the soundtrack, the audio re-enactment (stupid) and even the diary book written by the guy who played the interpreter/cartographer on the movie (the great Bob Balaban).  But more than anything else, young Todd wanted to do was to visit Devil’s Tower and see this gorgeous geological aberration in person.

I think it’s time for road trip!

new music from me!

So last month, I sat down at my little yamaha piano keyboard and started messing around with 3/4 time. You know 3/4 time right? It’s the “waltz” times signature. 3 beats per measure. BUM bum bum BUM bum bum. Most of the stuff I write is 4/4 and I wanted to see what I could come up with in the waltz style. So I just started playing and laying down tracks. Just piano and strings, but I could hear a French horn in my head. I guess that will come later. Anyway, I really enjoyed how it turned it out considering it was all improv and done in about 5 minutes and wanted to share it.

Superiority

“The truth is that there is nothing noble in being superior to somebody else. The only real nobility is in being superior to your former self.”

-Whitney Young

Sometimes when I am feeling a little sad about myself, I look at this guy and realize it could be much worse.    Kidding!
