last coffee blog

Okay, I promise no more coffee blogs after this one. I had  two cups this morning and it really made a difference in my presentation on-air. I felt more energetic (despite a lack of sleep last night, I stayed up too late watching LOST) and I didn’t have any stupid stumbles or mistakes. That whole digestion problem, I think came from too much fiber (who knew?) PLUS too much coffee. I am not downing 5 cups a day anymore. Just 2 in the morning to get me moving and coherent for the broadcast.
On a different note, I have a deep desire to go party this weekend. Hard. Like a Confettis-goin, Monopolys-scopin, Up and Down Greenville-drivin, twenty-something Todd used to do. And if you got any of those references, you are probably as old as I am.

BONUS: Here is a sneak peak (while it lasts) for tonight’s LOST episode:

Coffe Update and more

Success! So I almost went the whole day without any coffee. Just had one cup in the afternoon because my head was killing me and my little digestion “problem” has gone away.  Turns out I was probably drinking on average about 5 or 6 cups a day.  That’s a lotta caffeine.  I tried drinking hot chai tea this morning and it really didn’t taste all that great. I am going to try a different type tomorrow. Boy my life is really exciting.

On a different note, my son wanted to try to sell some comic books online and so we set up an ebay seller account yesterday. You can find the comic here

No Coffee Monday

coffee cupYeah, that’s right. You would think that getting up at 3:45am would necessitate the need for caffeine and I do loves me some of that new Dunkin Donuts coffee that my SuperTarget now sells, but apparently Mr. T’s little tummy is having a hard time as of late (I know-too much info) and after doing so research this weekend (5 minutes on Google) I decided to cut back the caffeine intake and see if it settles me stomach. And lower intestine (once again-tmi). So far, so good, but I am yawning big time this morning.

On a separate note, here’s a lil video that will start your week off with a smile.

Icy Roads

Where’s my ice? I was wound up last night and so I had a hard time falling asleep and then I get in early to tell Dallas-Ft Worth to go back to bed because the roads are too bad and…..nothin.
Traffic was actually lighter than normal this morning in terms of accidents on the freeways. I figured with just the rain alone we would have had tons of problems but nope. Not really. And now I am freaking dead tired.
Okay, enough self-pity talk…by the way, if I get a check from the government for $300 to help stimulate the economy, I am so going to go buy Rock Band

i know cool people

goattoddandhawkeye Hey, Look it’s Hawkeye! And me trying to look all cool with my long sleeve white shirt under a FOX gray short sleeve shirt combo thing.  You know, if you asked 100 random people which one of these guys belong on TV, I don’t think many folks would choose the short dumpy guy on the right.

Hawkeye is one of those people in Radio that I’ve known for about 15 years but I have never really had a chance to talk to him.  On the rare occasions that we do converse, he’s always been very nice and very humble. Seems like a good guy plus I just found out that he co-wrote a book about being single. Sounds like something maybe I should read.

When I was on Young Country, there was a girl from my class (Vanna) at TCU that was on KSCS.  We thought it was funny that we were both on top country stations at the same time and competing directly with one another when about 4 years earlier we were both trying to pass Broadcast Law 101.

Day Off

Holy smoke how nice is it to relax on a Monday? The boys are off from school today and it’s a work holiday at my other job so I decided I needed to have NO work at all today.  Congrats to you if you are off today and hey, spend a little time thinking about MLK Jr.

I had a blast on Friday night at the House of Blues and thanks to everyone who came out.  Met some really nice people who enjoy Good Day and I didn’t seem to embarrass myself too bad.  Chip did an awesome job with the Summer of 69 and I did my best David Lee Roth impression with You Really Got Me. (Bonus high kick at the end.)  Josh Lewin’s band, Independent George sounded fantastic and I really enjoyed meeting them. There is a chance I might be able to get my hands on a video of the performance and if so, I will post it here asap.

Girl You Really Got Me Going

Hey, who wants to hear me warble at the House Of BLUES? So my buddy Chip calls me up singand asks me if I want to sing with him for this charity event at the House of Blues called Jock Jam. Being the professional athlete that I am (not), I immediately said yes before anybody realized that they had asked a spare Traffic reporter. Apparently, there were quite a few former football players and sports reporters lined up since the NFC Championship was going to be played in Dallas this Sunday. Whoops! Doors open at 8:30 and the show starts around 9:30. $7 to get in with the proceeds going to charity. Click on the link for more information and check the title of this post if you want to know what I plan to sing!

We’re No Goats

Hey, so Chip and I had a lot of fun in Cowtown on Saturday night. We didn’t embarrass ourselves which was the main goal. Since Chip got there a few minutes before I did, he actually had a little bit of instruction so I insisted that he be the “milker” and I would be the goat “whisperer.” The contest was in heats of 2, and in the first round we competed against the weather guys from Channel 11 and Channel 21. The announcer enjoyed the fact that it was “traffic” versus “weather” and Chip and I got a big cheer when he mentioned that we were both TCU alum. Anyway, here’s how it works, the official starter counts down 3-2-1 go and then you walk (not run so you don’t spook the animal) and one person holds the neck and front leg of the goat while your teammate tries to top off a 12 ounce cup with a goat milkshake the natural way.  I was busy telling the goat how beautiful she was to notice that Chip had filled the cup in about 15 seconds. You should have heard the crowd go nuts when he stood up and hurriedly started duck-walking back to the finish line trying not to spill his hard-earned bounty. It was very cool and we won that first round easily. 2nd round didn’t go as well, because we switched goats and our new animal was apparently empty.  The eventual winner was the team from Telemundo and I vow to steal that blue ribbon from Nancy Leal.

All in all, a fun time at the stockyards!

Video of the reported goat milking can be found here.

There’s milk in them there goats!

Hey, if you want to see TEAM TRAFFIC live in person trying to coax milk out of a recalcitrant goat, come on down to the FW Stock show tonight (Saturday Jan12) at around 6 pm.not team traffic milking goat Chip Waggoner and I will be one of the many “Celebrity” teams competing in this annual competition. Yeah, I have no experience with goat milking. I have a hard enough time just getting my half & half into my coffee cup in the morning much less grabbing a strange animal teat. (hey, don’t get mad at me, that’s the correct word!) Should be fun for the whole family. Yeehaw!
