Holy smoke how nice is it to relax on a Monday?
The boys are off from school today and it’s a work holiday at my other job so I decided I needed to have NO work at all today. Congrats to you if you are off today and hey, spend a little time thinking about MLK Jr.
I had a blast on Friday night at the House of Blues and thanks to everyone who came out. Met some really nice people who enjoy Good Day and I didn’t seem to embarrass myself too bad. Chip did an awesome job with the Summer of 69 and I did my best David Lee Roth impression with You Really Got Me. (Bonus high kick at the end.) Josh Lewin’s band, Independent George sounded fantastic and I really enjoyed meeting them. There is a chance I might be able to get my hands on a video of the performance and if so, I will post it here asap.

Hey, who wants to hear me warble at the House Of BLUES? So my buddy Chip calls me up
and asks me if I want to sing with him for this charity event at the House of Blues called Jock Jam. Being the professional athlete that I am (not), I immediately said yes before anybody realized that they had asked a spare Traffic reporter. Apparently, there were quite a few former football players and sports reporters lined up since the NFC Championship was going to be played in Dallas this Sunday. Whoops! Doors open at 8:30 and the show starts around 9:30. $7 to get in with the proceeds going to charity. Click on the link for more information and check the title of this post if you want to know what I plan to sing!

I don’t care if you do have crazy devil glow in the dark eyes, you are the best goat in the world and you want to give me some of that milk. Awww, yeah baby.

Hey, so Chip and I had a lot of fun in Cowtown on Saturday night. We didn’t embarrass ourselves which was the main goal. Since Chip got there a few minutes before I did, he actually had a little bit of instruction so I insisted that he be the “milker” and I would be the goat “whisperer.” The contest was in heats of 2, and in the first round we competed against the weather guys from Channel 11 and Channel 21. The announcer enjoyed the fact that it was “traffic” versus “weather” and Chip and I got a big cheer when he mentioned that we were both TCU alum. Anyway, here’s how it works, the official starter counts down 3-2-1 go and then you walk (not run so you don’t spook the animal) and one person holds the neck and front leg of the goat while your teammate tries to top off a 12 ounce cup with a goat milkshake the natural way. I was busy telling the goat how beautiful she was to notice that Chip had filled the cup in about 15 seconds. You should have heard the crowd go nuts when he stood up and hurriedly started duck-walking back to the finish line trying not to spill his hard-earned bounty. It was very cool and we won that first round easily. 2nd round didn’t go as well, because we switched goats and our new animal was apparently empty. The eventual winner was the team from Telemundo and I vow to steal that blue ribbon from Nancy Leal.
All in all, a fun time at the stockyards!
Video of the reported goat milking can be found here.

Hey, if you want to see TEAM TRAFFIC live in person trying to coax milk out of a recalcitrant goat, come on down to the FW Stock show tonight (Saturday Jan12) at around 6 pm.
Chip Waggoner and I will be one of the many “Celebrity” teams competing in this annual competition. Yeah, I have no experience with goat milking. I have a hard enough time just getting my half & half into my coffee cup in the morning much less grabbing a strange animal teat. (hey, don’t get mad at me, that’s the correct word!) Should be fun for the whole family. Yeehaw!
